Blog Tour Stop - 'Love In All The Wrong Places' by Audrey Harte

Today is the last day of Audrey Harte's tour for her debut novel, Love In All The Wrong Places and I get the honor of closing things out! I've got an excerpt, review AND giveaway! Read on, Lil Lovers...then go BUY IT if you haven't already! ♥

Synopsis:

Annie Chang is in her mid 20s and has lived in Los Angeles all her life. After a series of failed relationships, she's beginning to feel like she will never meet Mr. Right. But seeing one of her longtime BFFs find love on the internet, she decides to give online dating a try. After finally finding an amazing guy who sweeps her off her feet, will he prove to be everything she could have wished for and more or is he too good to be true?

Excerpt:

Thankfully, traffic wasn’t too bad since it was a Tuesday night and she was only running a few minutes late when she pulled up to the valet.  A portly middle aged man of Hispanic descent wearing a zipped up black jacket and black slacks opened the door for her and handed her a ticket.
Shivering, she rubbed her arms briskly as she moved to the end of the rather long line of people standing outside the club.  Annie thought she was being smart when she decided to leave her coat in the car, knowing how hot she would get once she was inside, but the temperature had dropped several degrees in the late evening hour and she was quickly beginning to regret that decision.
As luck would have it, the line moved pretty quickly and it was only a matter of minutes before she stood in front of a pair of bouncers, both of them tall and heavily muscled.  The one holding a clipboard gruffly asked for her name.  She gave it to him and held her breath as she waited for him to check the guest list.
Had Gabe told them to add her name or was she going to look like an idiot?  But he only paused for a few moments before nodding and asking for her ID.  After he returned it, she stuffed it back into her clutch and eagerly headed into the comfort of the much warmer club.
Needing to do a quick mirror check and give herself a little pep talk, she hurried into the ladies room.  Her make-up and hair still looked fresh, so she just washed her sweaty palms and then applied a fresh coat of lip gloss before texting him.  Okay, nothing to be nervous about, girl.  You got this.

Annie:  I’m here.
Gabe:  Where are you?  Are you already inside?
Annie:  Yeah, I just left the ladies room in front.
Gabe:  Stay there.  I’ll come get you.
Annie:  Okay.

This was it — the moment of truth.  Annie stood there feeling a little awkward as a swarm of girls moved in and out of the ladies room, some of them looking at her as they passed by.  She tried to ignore their stares as she scanned the room for a tall guy who looked like Gabe’s pictures.
It wasn’t too long before she found him moving smoothly through the crowd of people.  A moment later he saw her as well, and his eyes lit up as a slow, sexy smile curved his lips.  Her breath caught as she did a mental back flip and cheer in her head.  Hot damn, she had hit the jackpot.
His dark brown hair looked like it had been buzzed recently and he wore a black t-shirt and a pair of distressed jeans with a black and silver studded belt and a pair of looped silver chains hanging down one side.  She smiled appreciatively as she noticed the tattoos on both of his toned arms and the diamond stud earrings in both of his ears.
“Hey…Annie, right?” he asked with a raised eyebrow when he was close enough for her to hear, then moved forward to give her a quick hug when she nodded.  She got a quick whiff of his scent which was a mix of aftershave and cologne…a little spicy, a little musky and absolutely delicious.   “You look insanely hot,” he murmured in her ear before he pulled away and winked at her.  “Come on, let’s get you a drink.”  He grabbed her hand and led her inside the club and then to the closest bar.  “What’s your poison?” he asked and she thought for a moment before responding.
“Um, you pick…surprise me.”
“Ha, you sure about that?”
“Yeah, I can handle it.”
“Alrighty.”  He leaned towards the bartender to give him their order, then handed over his credit card and told him to keep the tab open.  A minute later, the bartender pushed two shots towards them.  Gabe picked one up and handed it to her, then picked the other up and raised it to clink against hers.  “Cheers!” he yelled over the thumping music.
“Cheers!” she yelled back, then tossed it back like a champ.  Holy shit fire.  Can’t breathe.  Going to puke.  Goddamn it.  Why did he have to pick Tequila?  Gabe tossed his back with no problem, then burst out laughing when he saw her face.
“Oh wow, I’m sorry.  You look a little green.”  Shaking her head, Annie smiled weakly and patted her chest with one fist.
“I’m fine…or I will be in a minute.”
“You said surprise you.”
“I know, I know.  I deserved it.”  Annie didn’t dare admit to him that she’d felt so nervous and flustered at being in such close proximity to him that basic thought process was difficult for her at the moment.  When he had taken his hand in hers and led her to the bar, asking what she wanted to drink, she couldn’t think of a single thing to order.  It had been much easier just to let him pick something for her.  Now she knew that was a bad idea and had a drink order ready when he asked her what she’d like next.  “Kamikaze shot straight up.”  Gabe raised his eyebrow and chuckled as she hastily blurted out her request, but he turned and placed the order, holding up two fingers as he spoke to the bartender.
“Okay, we’ll do your girlie shot now.”
She smiled gratefully at him and found herself starting to relax and bounce in place to the pounding music as the current song began to reach its crescendo.  Soon Gabe was handing her a Kamikaze shot and lifting his to cheer with hers once again.  She had no problem tossing the shot back smoothly without coughing and making a face.  Kamikaze shots were her go-to drink and she didn’t often find bartenders who made them well, but this one was definitely the exception.  She appreciated how fresh it tasted and how smoothly it went down.  This time she was the one who motioned the bartender over, holding up two fingers and pointing to the now empty shot glasses.
After two more rounds of shots, Annie was starting to feel really good and grabbed Gabe’s hand to drag him out on the dance floor.  She made her way into the middle of the crowd, not letting go of him until she finally turned around to slide a hand around his waist and pull him close to her as she began to dance.  He was so much taller than she was, even with her heels on, and had to lean down to shout to her over the loud music that pumped through the club.  “Now I warned you I don’t really dance.”
Rolling her eyes, she raised on her toes to get closer to his ear.  “Just hold onto me and let your body move to the music.”  She grabbed his hands and placed them around her hips, his long fingers wrapping firmly around her.  The music pulsated as she swayed her hips back and forth slowly, eyes closed, her head bobbing in time to the thudding bass.  He felt so big and strong pressed closely against her and she felt a feeling of euphoria as they moved together, letting the hypnotic song control their movements.  Men and women danced around them on all sides, their sweaty bodies pressed against each other as everyone moved to the compelling beat.
“Who’s this song by?” he asked when he saw her lips move as she sang along.
“Kaskade and Deadmau5.”
“I think I really like this song, especially now that I’ve seen you dancing to it.”  He smiled down at her and she felt butterflies rise in a sudden whirlwind through her stomach.
“It’s called I Remember.”
“I don’t know why, but I just feel like…it feels like I knew you once and that I’m finally seeing you again after a long time.”  She wasn’t sure if he was being serious or if it was just the alcohol talking, but she was seriously buzzed and feeling good and so ready for his kiss when it came, that he could have been quoting Shakespeare or singing Sir Mix-A-Lot and it wouldn’t have mattered.
His mouth was intoxicating and his lips were warm and soft as they began to move against hers.  He dipped his tongue gently between her parted lips and slid it against her own as they continued to dance closely to each other.  The kiss deepened, quickly turning from sweet to passionate as his hands moved down to cup her ass, pulling her tightly against the hard, lean length of him as he continued to kiss her like he couldn’t get enough of the taste of her.  It was so amazing and felt so right to be dancing in his arms, like she just belonged there.
More and more, Annie was really wishing that there were no clothes between them as they continued to make out like teenagers and rub against each other in time to the music.  All caution had flown out the window with the second Kamikaze shot.  All she wanted more than anything at that moment was to have this delicious stud of a man pounding into her all night long.  He was lean and toned, but not overly muscled — some girls may consider him too skinny, but she had heard things about skinny guys and she was definitely in the mood to find out if the rumors were true.
Crooking a finger at him, she said “I want you” in his ear when he bent his head down closer to hear her.  Straightening back up, he looked down at her intently through hooded eyes for a few moments before finally responding.  She gave him her best “Come fuck me” smile and traced her fingers in lazy circles around his waist.
“Sweetie, you keep rubbing yourself against me like that and keep looking at me with those fuckin’ sexy bedroom eyes, you may end up getting more than you bargained for.”
Annie smiled wickedly back at him and asked tauntingly, “Hmm, is that a promise?”  A new song had started to play and had a harder driving beat.  Gabe must have been feeling the alcohol in his blood as he was now moving with surprising dexterity as he danced around her.
She could only assume that the hesitation he had shown before when she had asked him if he danced was probably the result of bad experiences, trying to dance with girls a lot shorter than him.  But she knew that you could be tall and still move your body to a basic beat and lose yourself in the rhythm of the music.  He seemed to have picked up on that rather quickly himself as he was now dancing with total abandon, like he’d been born on the dance floor.
They bounced up and down together as the beat popped and rolled and repeated again, waving their hands in the air with everyone around them.  The music kept pounding, the bass reverberating from the floor through their feet and spreading throughout the rest of their bodies as sweat dripped down their faces, but still they kept dancing.  A few minutes later, the music finally faded out and transitioned into the next song.  Gabe motioned his head towards the bar and she nodded and followed him off the dance floor, her hand firmly gripped in his.
“Another Kamikaze?” he offered.
“Sure.  Make it a double.”
He laughed and shrugged.  “Your funeral.”
“Aww…well, will you hold my hair if I have to puke?” she asked, wrinkling her nose as she looked up at him.
“That depends.”
“On what?” she asked curiously.
“Whether I’m going with you to your place tonight.”
“Oh…well yeah.”  Annie looked at him like that had been a dumb question.  “I thought I had made that pretty obvious the way I was dry humping you out there.”
“Well, in that case...”  He pulled her close to him and kissed her deeply again, nipping lightly at her lower lip before sweeping his tongue back over to sooth it.  “I say forget the drink and let’s get out of here.”
She didn’t need to be told twice.  “Okay,” she agreed, nodding happily.
“Okay.”  He kissed her once more before waving down the bartender to close out his tab.  After settling the bill, he reached for her hand and led her through the crowd and out of the club.

My Thoughts:

Okay, this is going to be one of my shorter reviews because, like a dumb ass, I waited till the last minute to write it up even though I finished my ARC weeeeeeeks ago...but how much can you pick apart a book you really, really enjoyed, anyway? Love In All The Wrong Places is a pretty great first novel that shakes the erotic romance genre up a little bit in the process (and praisaluiah, cuz it needs it!). It's refreshing that we aren't introduced to "the one" right away - in fact we go through (technically) four hotties in one book! Okay three hotties and one wuss-puss that starts the whole thing off (I have a theory that he's gay, but I digress smiley Indifferent0027 ).

That's not to say that Annie, our heroine, is a skank er nuttin' - merely a young, beautiful, sexually liberated girl in L.A. who really wants to be loved and takes to internet dating to try and find it. And on Craigslist at that! Naturally, hijinks and shenanigans ensue and our sweet girl makes some really poor choices that leave her heartbroken and not a little humiliated. I actually caught myself saying out loud at one point, "Oh, sweet Jesus...why did you...??? Oh, honey. Bless your heart." smiley No  Annie's insecurity (thanks largely in part to Wuss-Puss) takes over her common sense on more than one occasion...but if you weren't young and stupid once then you haven't lived proper, if you ask me. She's just looking for her HEA and I'm sure we've all been slappy stupid for love - or what we thought was love - at one point or another. Add on the insecurity, loneliness, rejection and the friggin' shit stew that is Craigslist and you basically have the makings of a fascinating train wreck of a story that you won't be able to put down. smiley 16a3c6a

Also have to hand it to Audrey that each guy she introduced was vastly different from each other. One had a particularly fascinating accoutrement I might like to experiment with myself, if I can find it! I won't tell you what it is. You'll have to read to find out.  smiley Whistle

Lastly, I love whenever a gay bestie shows up (I have many in my real life and one of them became a character in my own work, too). They always smack down the realness and bring the comedy - and in this case, dessert also. Every Grace or Karen needs her Will or Jack. smiley Crush

Yet again we've got another cliffhanger - it's all the rage these days. So frustrating! But I highly anticipate the follow up to see what happens with Annie and the adorable boy she was just getting to know when we're left hanging. I certainly hope Audrey is typing her little fingers to the bone right this minute!

Go get it. You will enjoy it!

Sexy Sunday and Blog Tour - 'No Second Chances' by Beverley Hollowed

This week's Sexy Sunday is my stop on Beverly Hollowed's No Second Chances tour! Scroll down for a sizzlin' little excerpt and my review!

*THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS GRAPHIC SEXUAL CONTENT AND STRONG LANGUAGE
AND IS INTENDED FOR MATURE ADULT AUDIENCES ONLY.*

Synopsis:

No nonsense mechanic Ally Brody is a "one chance only" kind of girl. When she catches her boyfriend of two years cheating with his assistant on a surprise visit to his office, there will be No Second Chances.

Determined not to fall for the wrong kind of man again, she comes face to face with Cole Thomas. He is gorgeous, charming, rich and everything Ally swore she should stay away from.

Cole wants Ally and he will stop at nothing until he gets what he desires. Bit by bit he breaks through her barriers and takes her on a journey of love and sexual awakenings. Will her obsessed ex, who refuses to accept it’s over, or a secret Cole himself is hiding, destroy their relationship before it even gets started?

Can Ally break her own rule and explore the possibility that Cole just might be the one worthy of a Second Chance?

Excerpt:

A little over an hour later, Cole climbed the stairs and approached his bedroom. He could hear soft music playing through the door. When he opened the door he stopped dead in his tracks.

The room was filled with flickering candles and there standing next to the wardrobe door, dressed in her black Louboutin, thigh high fish net stockings, and a black lace bra with  matching thong, was possible the most perfect creature he had ever seen. She was truly breath-taking.

“Wow!” was all he could say as Ally slowly approached him, her eyes locked firmly with his. He could feel himself harden and strain against his trousers as his breath quickened, desire coursed through his veins like a steamroller.

“Wow, yourself,” she said confidently as she pressed her hand against his crotch. “I see you approve.”

“I do indeed,” he gave her a wicked grin and reached out to touch but she swatted his hand away.

“No, no,” she purred as she slowly walked around him gently running her hand from his erection to his back side and softly gave it a squeeze. “No, we are going to do this slowly. And you will behave.”

Cole smiled to himself. He loved just how confident she sounded. He remembered the first time they were together in her apartment and just how reserved and self-conscious she was. She had come a long way in such a short time.

He dropped his hands back to his side, although the temptation to grab her and throw her down on his bed was so powerful inside him, he resisted. This was her game and he was happy to play.

She stood in front of him once again and reached up and undid his tie, slipping it slowly from his neck and letting it drop to the floor. Then, as she met his stare, she reached up and began to unbutton his shirt. He fisted his hands at his side to keep from touching her; the desire to do so was so strong it was almost killing him.

As she pushed the shirt opened she softly kissed his chest and she pushed the shirt over his shoulders before it slipped down his arms. Cole reached behind himself and pulled it over his hands and let it fall to the floor.

Ally stood for a moment, watching him from beneath her long lashes before she dropped her hands from his firm chest to the waist band of his trousers. She opened the button and slowly eased the zipper down. Slipping her hands inside his trousers she let her finger tips brush against himself briefly making him take in a sharp shot of breath. He was struggling harder and harder to control himself. He wanted her. NOW!

Without thinking, he raised a hand to touch her breast.

She put her hands up and backed away. "Are you going to behave? Or is this game over?" she said almost petulantly. She raised an eyebrow and gave him a smirk.

Cole clenched his jaw and lowered his hands dutifully to his sides. He tried some deep breaths to keep his raging desire in check. He had never been so turned on.

She returned to his trousers moving her hands inside to the back and pushed them along with his boxers down over his back side, sending them crashing to the floor. Dropping to her knees in front of him...

BUY NO SECOND CHANCES NOW:

My Review:

This is the second book by Beverley I've read and it's becoming apparent that she looooooooves to tell an angsty, heartbreaking story with men who fall in love fast, hard and forever and girls who think they don't need saving but really do. This is not my kind of story usually, because a) (like I mentioned in my review of her first book, Forever and Always), I prefer my romance with a big, fat side of realism and Bev demands a swift and committed suspension of disbelief from page one. That said -- I know this going in, so I will review it for what it is: nuttin' but straight up fantastical romance. And what's reading for, if not to escape reality, right? smiley Wink

So it's like this: hot, rich man meets pretty tomboy (in this case, a mechanic, no less) and he immediately weasles his way into her bed and her heart. The good news is he falls into headlong gob-smackin' love himself, even before she does, and commences to begin acting a fool trying to convince her to love him back while effing it up spectacularly on more than one occasion due to a devastating secret he's keeping. Oh also...there's a wack job ex stalking Our Heroine, which conveniently forces her to practically move in with Hot Rich Whipped Guy (complete with mansion and live-in housekeeper, personal doctor and private detective) from minute one for her own protection. Lots of hot sex ensues, some serious mind-shattering drama with Crazy Ex in which you keep expecting Whipped to miraculously save the day (*SPOILER* when it matters most he doesn't - refreshing twist), then Whipped's secret comes out, breaking Our Heroine's heart and ending the book on a $%^&*$#@!!! cliffhanger.

Damn you people and your cliffhangers. smiley 20gzk43 (I hereby promise never to abruptly stop in the middle of a story...I may leave some loose ends, but there shall be no full on dangling! Unless I change my mind...I'm a girl and I reserve the right.  smiley Whistle )

I digress.

What I like about Beverley's writing is that she manages to convince you that three days in bed with a hot man is a perfectly reasonable amount of time to fall in love (actually...what's so wrong with that, now that I think about it? What? smiley Confused0048-1). I always believe her characters when they say those three game-changing little words. Somehow she makes it work. I also appreciated that while Whipped is filthy stinking rich, he isn't a selfish, controlling, self-entitled prick. Too much. I mean, he has his moments, he's still a dude. But his efforts to control situations didn't spring as much from primal chest-beating as from concern and love. Also, Our Heroine - while she did make me want to smack her one time in particular and scream "NOOOOOOOO, DUMBASS!" (and if she'd listened...THAT wouldn't have happened...just sayin') - overall she wasn't an idiot and she didn't fall to pieces over microscopic misunderstandings. She did miss a lot of work though, and I have to wonder how she keeps her job. Maybe we'll find out in the follow up...

All said, if you love a book that's unapologetically romantic and features a beautiful moneyed man who doesn't hide his feelings, this is a great book for you. It's an enjoyable read and I look forward to finding out how Whipped digs himself out of the hole he's in in the sequel. If he can...cuz after all, there are No Second Chances...
(See what I did there? Genius. smiley 1zvbb13 )

Synopsis:

Veronica “Roni” Guard is an undercover cop trying to bust a drug ring. Unfortunately, she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Mateo Vargas, at an illegal street race in the California desert. He just happens to be a pretty big criminal himself. That’s why they split originally. No matter how much chemistry they have between them, a cop and a gangster are not a good match. Roni Convinces Mateo to help her with her case, his reluctance derailed by the one thing that always worked between them–sex. Yes, he’ll help her. But on one condition. In his world, she belongs to him, and him only.

Will Mateo’s possessiveness unravel Roni’s case? Or, worse, blow her cover? And if they get out of this alive, is there a future for them together?

Excerpt:

I really didn't have time for this, to let Mateo kiss me like he wanted me to forget everything, including my name. Crimson's race would be over soon, if it wasn't already, and all I cared about was Mateo's tongue stroking mine. He sucked me into his mouth, then pushed me out and invaded mine the next second. His desperation made me light-headed and needy.

Finally, he released my arms and blood rushed in, causing my skin to tingle and miss him. Rather than pull away, he drew me closer. He bent at the knees until he was at eye level and wrapped his arms around me tight. He straightened and took me with him. He held me there as we kissed, his tongue pushing and invading and so fucking sexy. I could lose myself in a kiss like that.

He slid his hands down my body to cup my ass. I wrapped my legs around him and he squeezed, his fingers digging in and massaging. I felt his cock twitch and lengthen through his jeans.

"I don't have time." I gasped the words into his mouth.

"Make time." He dropped to his knees and lowered me to the floor.

As soon as my back hit the floor, his hands were at my thighs, pushing my skirt up around my waist and easing my legs apart. His fingers brushed against my panties and I gasped. He was right. I could make time.

"Hurry."  I struggled to reach his jeans, to unbutton and unzip, then to pull him free. I remembered him, his size and length and how very right he felt inside of me and how very hard it had been to stop fucking him in the first place. In that moment, on my back in a fucking travel trailer in the middle of the largest organized illegal street race I'd ever seen, I wanted nothing more than to get him inside me again. "Do you have a condom?"

"Yes." He grunted as he jerked my panties down and off. Last time we fucked he got impatient and shredded the crotch with his fingers. This was an improvement. "In my pocket."

He pushed two fingers into me and we both groaned. I guess telling me the location of the condom made it my job to find it and put it on him, but I was too busy being finger fucked to focus on frisking him.

He fucked me slowly, his fingers twisting and spreading, and he brushed against that awesome place inside me, low and towards the front. The mythical g-spot, a place most men couldn't find with a treasure map and flashing lights to guide them in. Mateo found it with unerring precision, every time, and my back arched off the floor.

"Fuck." I clawed at his shirt. He had a beautiful body and I loved when he was naked, but it wasn't a priority at the moment. His shirt gave me something to cling to as he worked his fingers inside me.

"That's it." He braced himself above me on one arm, his face close enough to kiss. "God, you're so hot. I want to watch you come."

I wrapped one leg around him, leaving myself open wide and letting him feel how much he affected me. He thrust with his hand and followed with his hips. His cock slid against me, slipping through my moisture and pressing hard into my apex. He wanted inside as much as I wanted him there, but he didn't remove his hand.

"Touch yourself." Mateo thrust extra hard with the request and pressed against my clit with his thumb. I jerked and tried to focus on his words. He'd already brought me close to orgasm in no time at all. The second I touched myself, I knew I'd come and I wasn't ready to be done.

"No." I shook my head in rhythm to the motion of my hips. I wanted his cock, but damn his fingers felt so good, stroking and working me higher.

He licked up the column of my throat, then bit my ear hard, worrying his teeth back and forth. I groaned and tried not to think about the growing number of marks I'd have to find a way to hide from Crimson when we were done.

"Do it." He growled the words into my ear and they rumbled over my body and brought my skin to life. I started to shake my head again and he nipped at my neck, biting the sensitive flesh where neck blends into shoulder. "Do it or I'll stop."

His hand stilled then, his fingers inside me but unmoving.

"Fuck. Okay."

I moved as slowly as I could and he watched my hand move across my body. When I brushed a finger tip against my clit, my hips jerked involuntarily and he started fucking me again.

"Goddamn, that's sexy." His voice was breathy and reverent, and his hand kept a steady pace.

I circled my clit slow and easy. I was ridiculously wet and my fingers slipped through the moisture, sliding down to touch his hand and brush against his cock. He gasped and thrust forward again, pushing his cock into my hand. He was hard and pulsing and covered with my arousal. I wrapped my hand around him, circling and stroking down his length.

"No." He jerked his hips back, but his fingers kept working inside me. "Only you." He held himself out of my reach.

Tension and heat built low in my cunt. I was on the verge of breaking open from his relentless, probing fingers. I dragged my own fingers through my wetness, sliding against his, and slipping inside with them. I slid higher, close enough to come from the feel of his breath panting against my skin and knowing that I wouldn't last.

If this is what he wanted, to watch me finger myself until I came, I would give it to him, but it wouldn't be much of a show. I pressed against my clit and my finger slid along the raised, distended length. I was engorged, hard, and too fucking sensitive.

"That's it." He dropped his hips again, letting his cock press against me, pushing his fingers deeper.

I circled my clit, working it smoothly, with precision. A few seconds later, I clenched hard around his fingers and came with a strangled moan. Mateo lurched forward, resting his weight against me, and forced his tongue into my mouth to swallow my sounds.

"God, you're good at that," I said with a gasp. I dropped my head against the floor, my body loose and floaty in happy post-orgasm bliss.

The tell-tale sound of a condom wrapper being ripped open got my attention and I looked up. I watched as he rolled the condom down his shaft, stroking and staring at me with an intense, heated look on his face. I licked my lips and shifted slightly, opening my legs wider. God, I wanted him inside me.

"You're so fucking hot. Damn, Roni, you have no idea what you do to me." He positioned his cock at my opening, pushing the very tip inside. He swiveled his hips, dragging through my sex and arousal.

I looked at him deliberately, one eyebrow raised, and said, "I have a pretty good idea." Then I ran a finger up the length of his cock, pausing when I reached the rim of the condom.

He laughed and grabbed my hands in his. He pinned them to the floor next to my head. And that move, the overt control and ownership, the primal declaration, was so ridiculously sexy. I was ready to combust and still he lingered at my opening.

"Please, fuck me." I gasped out the request. I couldn't help it. He was the type of guy to deprive himself, delay his own pleasure, just to torment his partner. I wasn't in the mood to be tormented. I just wanted to be fucked hard enough to feel it for days after.

He smiled, his mouth a crooked, careless line that thrilled me, and then he pushed forward, smooth, easy, and deep. God, did he feel good inside me. He was long and wide and filled me perfectly.

"Yes." Goddamn. I wanted to say more, to exclaim and shout and beg and cry. Instead I was locked beneath him, his weight pressing against me and his mouth suddenly on mine. He kissed me slowly as he pulled out. Then he thrust his tongue into my mouth in time with his hips, fucking my mouth and my pussy at the same time.

He didn't fuck gently. He committed fully, pushing as deep as possible with every stroke, bottoming out inside me and pushing farther still until I was stretched and panting for reprieve. And I couldn't breathe with his tongue in my mouth, lapping at my lips, my tongue, my teeth. I twisted my head to the side and gulped air. He laughed and raised up slightly, only to drop his weight onto his hands, with mine pinned underneath.

"Keep these here." He pressed me heavily into the floor, showing me where to keep my hands. I nodded, light-headed and confused about everything except the feel of him inside me.

"Good girl." And then he braced his hands against my thighs, pushing my legs open obscenely wide, his cock sliding even deeper. He moved his hips, retracted slightly, then pressed forward.

"I'm going to fuck you now."

Everything went a little blurry. I was reduced to pure sensation, to the powerful strokes as he thrust into me. He was done playing, done teasing, and set on fucking me through the floor. Even at his primal, pounding best, though, he was still thoughtful. He took--God did he take--what he wanted while watching my reaction the whole time. He adjusted, pushed deeper, slowed, only to go faster, all exactly when I needed it.

"I'm close." He grunted, a fine slick sheen of sweat coating his face and neck. I wished that I'd taken the time to get him naked. I loved the cut of his muscles, his perfect smooth skin. I wanted to lick the exertion from his chest, and bite his nipples.

I was not, however, ready for him to come. "Not yet." I gritted my teeth while keeping my hands where he put them.

"Roni. . ." He didn't slow his thrusts, and he kept driving into me and my body rose to meet him. Curling tension built inside me, but I wanted more.

"Not yet."

He grabbed my hips and hiked me up until only my head and shoulders touched the floor. Back arched, legs tight around his waist, I let him use me. At that angle, he went just a little deeper, touched me just a little different, and the pressure inside me spiraled. His fingers dug into my ass, kneading in counterpoint to his thrusts, jerking me forward to meet him, then pulling me back.

"I have to." He tremored inside me, his cock jerking and swelling, and I knew he wouldn't be able to hold back much longer.

"Almost." I was so close, driven by his hard length pulsing and pushing into me. And then I was flying, let loose as my body came apart beneath him. "Now."

"Thank God." He thrust into me twice more, then held. His back, arms, legs, everything, trembled and he jerked arrhythmically then collapsed on top of me, heavy and possessive. He panted into my throat, his breath hot and wet against my skin. I loved him like this, spent and exhausted and vulnerable. We stayed like that long enough for my body to cool and the rug burn on my shoulder to make itself known. It was totally worth it.

"Tell me why we ever stopped doing that." He groaned, far more articulate than I was in that moment.

I laughed. "Conflict of interest." Specifically, he had found my badge and gun in my purse when he was looking for a condom while I was in the bathroom. Instead of the sex I'd expected, I found him with my gun in his hands, my badge on the floor, and a very scary look on his face. After a brutally brief conversation, we decided it would be best if we went our separate ways. At the time, it seemed prudent since I didn't want to die of a bullet from my own gun. Later I'd done some basic searches and found Mateo. And then Luis. And then vomited in the trashcan next to my desk at work.

He tensed slightly, but didn't move. "That's right. You're a cop. Why is that so easy to forget?"

"Are you kidding?" I rubbed my hands over his shaved head. It was damp with sweat and the stubble bit against my palms. "I can't even remember my name right now."

My Review:

Okay, I don't even know how to start this review except to say FAN. FRIGGIN. TASTIC!!! (I mean, did you read that excerpt???)

Attention all you readers and bloggers who stick your noses up at reading novellas and therefore don't give them a chance: GET OVER IT! Cuz if the writer is good, you won't miss anything that a full length novel has (except maybe for the time you can't get back). Braxton Cole knows what she's doing. You are in great hands here and I highly recommend this novella.

For starters if you like the shmexy - dayum. DAYUM. Absolutely panty-melting, yummalicious, gimme-sum-o-dat, filthy, dirty, nasty, monkey lovin'! But what makes it more than just hot is that Braxton takes the time to include the emotion in the sizzle. Roni and Mateo can't be together cuz she's a cop and he's a criminal and that means angst neither of them will admit to out loud (and for awhile not even to themselves)...but you can clearly feel it when reading the explosive, imaginative sex scenes. I was rooting for them, even though I knew it was as impossible a situation as they did.

Oh yeah...and Mateo's effin' sex-ay. Shhhhiiiiiiiizle. This story takes place around Los Angeles. I live in Los Angeles. Where's my Mateo? Guys like him are not on Match.

What?

Next, even though it's written in first person from Roni's point of view, we are given clear insight into what Mateo's viewpoint might be based on Ronnie's observations of his body language and speech. I've found this to be a rare quality in the erotic romance genre so I appreciated it a lot. I didn't feel like I'd read only half a book and I didn't feel like the characters weren't fully developed like I usually do reading first person. So, well done there, Ms. Cole.

Last, there's some danger and intrigue thrown in for good measure as Roni is undercover trying to bust a  gangsta-drug-Lord-illegal-drag-race-runnin' creep bucket who will kill them BOTH if they get caught bumpin' uglies and her cover is blown. Nail biter!

My only very minor complaints with this story are that I might've liked a little more of the intrigue and maybe the ending was wrapped up a little too neatly, but hey...who cares. That's a complaint for the sake of complaint. Blown is definitely worth the read and I look forward to checking out Braxton's other works, Birthday Wishes (The List: Book 1 - available now) and All Wrapped Up (The List: Book 2 - coming in July).
